University of Manchester

As one of three approved contractors on a term contract, over the past 5 years we have been a part of a campus wide refurbishment. We have completed a number of asbestos removal projects on various buildings, some up to £350k, projects including:

Sackville Street Building: The asbestos removal and decontamination works were carried out within the boiler room approx 1800 m3 and within 15 enclosures throughout a live university building. The reinstatement works included insulation to pipe work and inserting permanent fire breaks. Acting as Principle Contractor on this project meant we managed various subcontractors including scaffold erection, insulation and boiler engineers.

Renold Building: These works were carried out on the 9th floor of a live university building during term time. Not only were works carried out on time, within budget and to a high quality standard but also with the consideration of the health and safety of others. The works involved removing spray coated insulation from a pot and beam ceiling using a multi needle injection system and quill blasting method. Ceiling reinstatement works were carried out upon completion.

Pariser Building: The project involved decontamination and removal of various asbestos containing materials in various locations throughout the entire building. Again acting as Principle Contractor we managed all subcontractors and provided the client with a thorough health and safety file upon job completion.

Stopford Building: The works involved asbestos removal from three risers and a nine metre section of the basement corridor including decontamination and environmental cleans. All walls were encapsulated and works were carried out within confined spaces.

In addition we have carried out asbestos removal, decontamination and remedial works at sites including Oddfellows Building, Ferranti Building and Bridgeford Street Plant Room.
